Young London Today
Young London Today is a not-for-profit organisation, which is dedicated to supporting, developing and enriching the lives of vulnerable young people and those leaving local authority care. They ensure each and every individual under their supervision makes a successful transition into independent living and further education or employment. Their approach is multifaceted and effective. They provide:
- Semi-independent supported accommodation
- One-to-one key work support
- Opportunities for apprenticeships & work placements
- In house accredited education and workshops
- 24 hour on call services
- Personal development plans
Young London Today was founded by April Mitton in the latter of 2001. April – who at the time was an extremely successful property agent – first and foremost recognised a growing demand to provide quality assured properties to vulnerable and looked-after young people exiting the local authority care system. It was expected of these young people to immediately become independent, which for the majority was unobtainable due to their mental, emotional, financial and physical needs.
